The VAKI Bioscanner Fish Counter provides accurate information on the number of fish in sea cages, ponds, tanks and raceways. This highly-accurate fish counter allows for precise deliveries of smolt. When harvesting, the Bioscanner provides lower manpower costs and higher efficiency. Additionally, the Bioscanner can provide data on the number of fish in each size group, when used in conjunction with graders. By utilizing the VAKI Bioscanner, aquaculture operations can achieve more accurate feeding quantities and medical dosages, and have greater confidence in insurance value assessments.
- Accuracy: 99-100%
- Flexibility - fish size from 3g to 6kg
- High capacity - up to 60,000 fish per hour @ 3g
- Gentle treatment - fish are in water at all times
- Easy to use and very efficient
Accurate information on the number and size of farmed fish is very important in modern aquaculture. Biomass data on the fish in tanks and pens makes it possible to monitor production and facilitates management and planning. The Bioscanner has been counting fish worldwide since first introduced in 1984 and is the standard in the automated counting of live fish.

Since we have incorporated the Macro Counter into our system, we have been able to improve inventories to within 2 to 3% accuracy. I would recommend VAKI's equipment to any large fish farming aquaculture operation.
Just want you to know that I applied the training that I received from you. Utilizing file space on the Macro Counter and remembers to download file on the hard drive to the memory stick. We graded after you left. Knowing how the counter work made it effortlessness to operate and at ease to explore the capability of the unit. So your trip here were productive and I learned valuable lesson on how to operate and use counter properly.

Osland Settefisk, Norway has invested in VAKI Micro and Macro Counters for the best possible control of production.
The equipment has very good capacity and is accurate in all phases of production when it is used properly. Sorting and distribution have never been better. We believe to have good control of biomass and numbers with VAKI equipments.

We have been using several Macro and Micro counters in our hatcheries and pre-growing plants for many years. Macro counter is extremely fast, reliable and accurate. Fish are into water all the time, so counting task is a low stress process and fish do not receive any damage. The counters are suitable for a wide range of fish weights and species. We have been using them combined with fish pumps and graders, which allows you making several tasks at a time. Wifi connection makes possible to send counting files directly from the counter to our data base. These counters are a safe bet.
The use of the counters has allowed us to maximise growth and minimise unnecessary stress by transferring the exact number of fish for harvest and leaving the remaining fish to feed and grow.

We have been using the VAKI Smolt Counters on our wellboats for many years.Fast, gentle and accurate delivery of fish is important to us and our customers. Therefore we choose VAKI Counters that are reliable, have huge capacity and very good accuracy. We are very pleased for the possibility of documenting all counting with image analysis.
I have been in the industry for 19 years and have never had equipment with similar capacity and accuracy as the VAKI Macro counter
Frank Meløysund │ Site Manager
Neptun Settefisk invested recently in VAKI Macro and Micro products and with these products we have achieved great control on our production. The equipment has a very high capacity and is really accurate in all phases of production. Grading of the fish is also much faster. We have a lot more control on the biomass and fish number after we invested in the VAKI Fish counters

We have been using the VAKI Macro fish counter for several years. The counter employs advanced digital camera technology which gives both high counting capacity and excellent accuracy. In addition, the VAKI Macro fish counter offers good weight estimates of counted fish. The experience of our hatchery staff in using the counter is very positive. The unit is well built and very easy to use. It works very well in combination with fish pumps and graders reducing labor requirements and greatly improving our fish inventory control. It is also virtually maintenance free and, year after year, it provides us with consistent, trouble free operation. Highly recommended.
Janusz Wicikowski │ Boot Lagoon Hatchery Manager
We use the VAKI Macro counters all the time on our fresh water cage farms in Scotland. Despite the obvious weather challenges from wind and motion and rain on these sites, the counters work very well most of the time and give us a high degree of confidence with our stock control.
David Catto │ Production Manager
Migdale Smolt Ltd.
Not only was the count accurate to 99.5%, but the ease and lack of stress impressed not only myself but also our customers.
We use the Micro for all counting at our cod hatchery. The Micro has proven to be very accurate and to be able to count fish down to 0.2 grams is of very big value to us.
Havlandet Marin Yngel
The Macro has outperformed all expectations. Speed, accuracy and low stress on the fish are key advantages .
Willie Young │ Managing Director
We use our pumps almost daily. At the moment we have 2 pumps one at each facility. The Heathro Pump is gentle on fish and is easily controlled with its remote control, which makes it possible for only one person to operate sorting and moving of fish. We are very pleased with our choice of pumps that are perfect fit for our needs and production.

The Pipeline Counter (PLC) has been very useful for us. Especially in the planning process where it is very important for us to know how many fish are in each cage. The PLC has saved us much time and effort and we are very happy with the easy installation and the opportunity to integrate to other equipment on our site.

The Shrimp Pico Counter offers us great options when moving shrimp,” says Rodney Johnson, a technician for TruShrimp Systems. “I also like the mobility of the unit and the computer and screen on the cart right above the camera. The great thing about the Shrimp Pico Counter is the ability to know exactly how many shrimp are in a tank when we move our shrimp in the various growth stages. Knowing this is very important so we don’t overfeed or underfeed. This gives us optimum shrimp growth and best water quality possible.
The VAKI Grading System has been helpful for us to make the transfer of our fingerlings more effective and soft. Now we have optimal size distribution and know exactly how many fish we have in every cage.

The new Lumpfish Grader from VAKI has increased our grading efficiency a great deal. We are very pleased with the possibility to grade in three categories instead of the usual two, as with the old hand grading system (the box grader).
The grader is very gentle to the fish and is pumped into the grader instead of netting/ and handling as it is done with the old method.
Also important is the saving of time and manpower. Before we had two to three people grading by box, but now we only need one person grading when using the VAKI Lumpfish Grader. We find the grader really easy to work with and compact, that gives us the possibility to move it around and grade where ever we want. We find the benefits of the new Lumpfish Grader quite big
