Oxygen transfer and biofiltration equipment requirements vary widely, depending on equipment type, water replacement rate, feed rate, culture-water quality targets, and other factors. For example, biofilter media surface area requirements can vary by a factor of 10 or more based on these factors. The use of this service generally reduces equipment costs while preventing undersizing in systems with difficult water quality problems.
Please inspect this questionnaire to see if you are interested in this service. Information from the questionnaire is processed in our exclusive "Recirc Design" computer program. The program performs standard ammonia-nitrogen and oxygen mass balance analyses, incorporating animal feed energetics algorithms to determine biofiltration and oxygen requirements. It is not applicable to plug-flow (raceway) or green-water (heavy algal) systems—please call the Pentair AES Technical Service Department at 407-598-1401 for assistance with these kinds of systems. Program reports enable AES personnel to accurately size ammonia removal and oxygen transfer equipment for your unique needs.
The Pentair AES Recirc Design program is the result of hundreds of hours of research and development by qualified personnel. Without such analysis equipment must be sized quite conservatively (and expensively) to cover generic worst-case conditions. The service includes summary printouts of key program inputs (customer supplied), design outputs and equipment recommendations.
