Bioreactors are an efficient and reliable way to remove the ammonia and nitrites released in fish waste from the water. At Pentair Aquatic Eco-Systems, we offer several types of bioreactors, and each is available in multiple sizes to suit almost any application. The Sweetwater Low-Space Bioreactor Filter (LSB) works effectively in any aquaculture application, but it is ideal for low-head recirculating systems. This non-pressurized biofilter is fully automatic, self-adjusting, and self-cleaning. Air is used to circulate the HDPE polymer media in the LSB, adding oxygen to the water and removing carbon dioxide. The Pentair Aquatic Eco-Systems Cyclonic BioReactor (CBR) is a fluidized bed bioreactor that uses a silica sand media for bacteria growth. The CBR has a small footprint, making it ideal for confined areas, and all but our largest units are designed for containerized shipping around the world.
