After the Aquaponics Technology and Design Workshop in Peniche, Portugal, Jason Danaher and Dennis DeLong had the opportunity to address aquaculture students at the Superior School of Tourism and Maritime Technology, Polytechnic Institute of Leiria.
Inês Silva (right), with a degree in Marine Biology and Biotechnology, and recently completed Master’s Degree in Aquaculture, explained her thesis work on reproduction characterization and growth assays of Mozambique tilapia. The group also visited with Cátia Fernandes, a candidate for Master’s Degree in Aquaculture, studying saltwater aquaponics with European sea bass fingerlings, Swiss chard, New Zealand spinach, Tomatoes, and watercress at different salinities.
