Large Order for UV Systems Headed to Chile
The Pentair Aquatic Eco-Systems team in Apopka, Florida, recently completed the largest order ever received for its SafeGUARD UV (ultraviolet) water treatment systems. The systems will be installed in a large commercial Aquaculture facility in Chile. As the shipping deadline drew closer, the Apopka team increased its collaboration across nearly every department, including daily stand-up meetings, to make sure all tasks and open action-items were receiving proper attention.
“We held weekly cross-functional meetings to drive planning…key representatives from every department were closely involved from start to finish,” said Pentair Aquatic Eco-Systems Director of Operations, Kevin Banks. “With UV units this large, there are a lot of critical-to-quality components; we actually built a new test stand on our shop floor just to accommodate them.”
In a field application, the UV systems are able to treat biological contaminates in water by exposing potentially-harmful organisms to ultraviolet light which renders their DNA inactive. This process helps to prevent bio contamination in Aquaculture applications; increasing yield and decreasing potential business risks to farm operations. UV treatment can also help protect the natural environment when utilized in discharge water applications.
“We are poised for significant growth in UV and our expanding capabilities and expertise are helping to shape our team into Pentair’s Global Center of Excellence for UV Systems,” said UV Systems Product Manager Jim Fraser.
As UV fluid treatment continues to expand in many markets, Pentair Aquatic Eco-Systems is well-positioned to grow. With the successful build of these five large systems behind them, the Apopka team took a well-deserved moment to celebrate and now they are starting the process all over again - the same customer has just placed a new order for an additional seven large UV systems
