An Example of our Challenge with Consumer Awareness

The Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA) and The Fishin’ Company have conducted a survey to collect results regarding the US familiarity, knowledge and perception of aquaculture. The results have shown a great portion of the respondents are still unacquainted and uneducated on the topic, which is a direct example of our challenge with consumer awareness.

After providing more than 40 questions, the outcome seems that nearly half of the respondents have a poor perception on farmed seafood. Whether the reasons are their thoughts on the country of origin, environment it’s raised in or food safety concerns. Pentair Aquatic Eco-Systems believes in Aquaculture and the education regarding this industry. We provide quarterly workshops to the community about Recirculating Aquaculture Systems and Aquaponics technology and design courses to raise awareness and further familiarize people globally. It is our job to continue to education and welcome everyone to become partners in a sustainable future!
