Making Tracks

It's been a while since we have provided an update, but trust us, we have been busy! In the past couple of weeks, more concrete has been excavated, walls have been framed, insulated and drywalled. Plumbing and HVAC are also being installed. What may seem like a flurry of chaotic activity filled with clouds of dust and loud machinery is actually a well-choreographed "dance".

Moving Forward!

We have been idle at the new Schmidt Brewery farm location while waiting for our building permit. The good news... we received the building permit last Tuesday, December 1! The excitement and energy levels are high, and the next phase is finally starting!

The Calm Before the Storm

The photo shows the "before" picture of the warehouse space, and we have entered the calm before the storm. Like the Hamm's location, it's exciting to enter a space that has been vacant for years and watch it transform into an operational farm that will provide food, jobs, and much more!

Raise The Roof!!

The transformation at 543 James Avenue is becoming a reality! In less than 3 months, with 12 roofing crew members and 60,000 square feet of roofing material, the roof replacement project is complete at the Schmidt Brewery location!

Fingerlings + Finalization

This past week has been filled with the usual farm activities such as planting and harvesting, but fish monitoring has also been added. As mentioned previously, our initial batch of hybrid striped bass has been moved to the grow-out tanks, and we received our second batch of fingerlings. They are enjoying their brief stay in quarantine prior to moving to their permanent residence.

Urban Organics is Honored & The Fish Are Happy!

It was an exciting productive week here at Urban Organics! We transferred our maturing tilapia to a new tank with more space to socialize and grow. Progress on the new Schmidt Facility was also underway, as the roofers continued to work on the warehouse, putting a roof with better insulation on for those cold MN winters!
